تضمن البحث في موضوع دور المحاكم واللجان الدولية في حماية ضحايا انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان ضبطاً لمفهوم الضحية وتعريفها في ضوء القواعد المنظمة للقانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان، وكذلك من هم الأشخاص الذين ينطبق عليهم وصف الضحية، وكيف تطور هذا المركز القانوني من حيث اهتمام المجتمع الدولي بهذه الفئة "الضحايا" وكيف كفلت لهم حقوق قد تساعدهم في استرداد ما تكبدوه من أضرار مادية ومعنوية وانتهاكات وقعت عليهم .
