Narrators criticized by Imam Abu Hatim al-Razi in Imam al-Bukhari's book "The Weak and Abandoned"

Published: 2025-10-16

Abstract

This study explores the status of specific narrators included by Imam Al-Bukhari in his work "Al-Du‘afa’ wa Al-Matrukin". It specifically examines those narrators whose inclusion was contested by Imam Abu Hatim Al-Razi.

The research is structured alphabetically by narrator, divided into three main sections. The first section provides an introduction to both prominent Imams. The second section covers narrators from (Alif) to (Qaf) whose presence in "Al-Du‘afa’" was disputed. The third section continues this analysis for narrators from (Qaf) to (Ya).

The findings indicate that Imam Al-Bukhari employed broad criteria and had distinct objectives for including narrators in his book "Al-Du‘afa’". Conversely, Imam Abu Hatim presented compelling arguments against their classification as Al-Du‘afa narrators.
