This study examines the connotations of the word “covenant” in the Holy Qur’an through an analytical approach that combines semantic tracking and thematic study, to reveal the diversity of the word’s meanings according to its different contexts. The aspects of “covenant” in the verses varied between a testament, a command, security, and a solemn pact, which reflects the comprehensiveness of the concept in regulating the relationship between the Creator and the created, and between individuals and society. This study aims to highlight the ethical and legal dimension of the covenant in Islam, stressing that fulfilling it represents a pillar of faith and a guarantee of social security. The study also shows that the covenant in the Qur’an is not merely a verbal commitment, but rather an existential pact that entails reward in this world and the hereafter. The study concludes that understanding these connotations contributes to understanding the objectives of Sharia towards establishing the values of trustworthiness and human responsibility.
