تناول البحث موضوع بالغ الأهمية، وطرحت القضية التساؤلات التالية: نطاق توفير القوانين حماية حقيقة للأطفال في المعارك ومدى الوعى بحقوق الأطفال وقواعد الحرب الدولية ، وهدف البحث إلى بيان مدى توفر تأمين الصغار أثناء النزاعات المسلحة في القانون الدولي الإنساني ومعالجة أثارها ودور الأمم المتحدة ومنظمة الصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر في حماية الأطفال ، واستخدم في البحث المنهج التكاملي ، وخلص البحث إلى استنتاجات متعددة أهمها : العمل على إعادة صياغة الأنظمة القانونية الدولية بما يواكب التطورات الدولية و قلة الوعي بقانون حماية المدنيين في الحرب وبحقوق الأطفال أثناء النزاعات المسلحة، وبأن النزاعات المسلحة تؤدي إلى حرمان الأطفال من حقوقهم الأساسية، وتـوصـل البحث إلى بعض التوصيات أهمها : زيادة الوعي بحقوق الطفل وقواعد الحرب ، وإعطاء القانون الدولي الإنساني كمادة في المؤسسات التعليمية، و الدمج بين قواعد الحرب الدولية وقانون حماية المدنيين، وانضمام الدول التي لم تنضم إلى المعاهدات الأساسية لقانون النزاع المسلح و إتمام التعهدات الدولية التدابير القانونية الدولية.
