The research showed the Shiite position on reason, which is a pivotalissue, as they give reason an important role in interpreting religious texts and directing beliefs. Shiites believe that reason is a tool for understanding Sharia and deriving rulings from it. It is not only complementary to Sharia, but sometimes it is considered a ruler over it. The research focuses on the state of instability shown by some Shiite movements in using reason as a basis for addressing issues of belief. This phenomenon is part of a broader discussion revolving around the relationship between religious texts and the human mind within Shiite thought. Interpretations range between giving priority to rational arguments and strict reliance on traditional texts. This reflects the complexity of dealing with doctrinal concepts. Later Shiites went to extremes in reason and made it the argument behind which there is no argument. They prevented the impermissibility of error in reason and presented their opinions and theological whims.
