This research paper presents an applied analytical study on zakat on debt, aiming to examine Sheikh Khalil's statement from his abridged work, by explaining the meaning of debt and its conditions, and grounding the issue in the major books of Maliki jurisprudence. The study also focuses on examining the statements of the commentators on the abridged work and their methodology in legal deduction. The research seeks to highlight the criticisms directed at Sheikh Khalil, in addition to comparing his statement with the statement of the abridged work of Al-Amir. The results revealed that the jurists agree on the obligation of zakat on debt for whoever owns the minimum amount (nisab) and a year has passed on it and he has no debt, but the difference was in the impediment: Is it the fear of not being able to collect it? Or is it not obligatory until the debt is collected?
